Dana Petroleum, an oil and gas exploration and production company with strong presence in the UK and Egypt has enlisted OPEX – an ERM Group Company, to support with its energy transition strategy
OPEX deployed its emissions.AI technology on the Dana owned Triton FPSO, supported by an Environmental Reduction Advisor, to identify areas of the business with high emissions and support with methods to bring these figures down.
After installation in January 2022, the technology went through a customisation and configuration process to ensure it was being utilised in line with Dana’s overall carbon reduction objectives. The software went live in April 2022.
The robust, granular and automatically generated data set that is now available to Dana has created a foundation for a wider scope of emissions reduction activities. Furthermore, the data can also quantify emissions reduction for theoretical savings on a MACC curve.

This has opened up additional opportunities for all parties; OPEX are supporting ERM with the preparation of an Emissions Reduction Action Plan (ERAP). The ERAP collects the data identified and quantified by emissions.AI and uses it to assist in the generation of emissions reduction ideas. It also demonstrates “Business as Usual” baseline emissions.
OPEX is providing ongoing consultancy support which includes data mapping and the review and execution of calculations to ensure compliance with North Sea Transition Authority requirements. The wealth of data the solution provides will also inform Dana’s transition journey.
The successful implementation of emissions.AI strengthened the trusted relationship between OPEX and Dana, and the provision of an Emissions Reduction Action Plan (ERAP) has highlighted the importance and relevance of the wider ERM Group by drawing on the capabilities of the broader team.
